Two persons identified as Rabiu Abubakar and Mohammed Dan Kwairo were burnt to death after a tanker exploded at the Yaba Junction of Gada-Biyu village on the Abuja-Lokoja Road.
A witness said the incident happened last Thursday night when the petrol laden tanker lost control and crashed into a ditch, and that some residents rushed to the scene with jerry cans and buckets to scoop fuel, before the tanker exploded, with two people burnt to death and two injured.
When contacted, the FCT Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ayuba Wobin Gora, confirmed the tanker explosion, but said he was not aware of the deaths.
Gora said, “I believe the Kwali police should be able to give you an insight about the tanker incident, because the report I received was that the tanker driver who survived the crash rushed to the Kwali Police Division to report the incident.”
