Two people were burnt to death after gunmen opened fire on a pickup van near Ukya village in Toto LGA of Nasarawa State.
A resident, Usman Aliyu, said the incident happened last Thursday around 6pm when the gunmen emerged from the bush and opened fire on the vehicle which had the drive and two others who were on their way to load charcoal on a farm.
He said the occupants of the vehicle were trapped when it went up in flames after the shots but that they were rescued and taken to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH), Gwagwalada, where two of them later died.

The Chairman of Toto LGA, Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi Tashas, did not pick calls put across to him, but one of his aides confirmed the incident through telephone.
The spokesman of the Nasarawa State Police Command, DSP Ramhan Nansel, was yet to reply to an SMS on the incident.
