2 break into Ibadan church, steal fans, TV, others

Two men, Bidemi Emmanuel (41) and Olatunji Johnson (40), were on Monday brought before an Iyaganku magistrates’ court in Ibadan for stealing church property worth N968,000.

The prosecutor, ASP Sikiru Ibrahim, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on June 1, at about 2am at Lifeline Tabernacle Church on Ring Road, Ibadan.

He said the duo and others at large broke into the church and stole 12 standing fans worth N516,000, a 32-inche LG TV worth N35,000 and one Canon video camera worth N220,000.

Ibrahim further told the court that the defendants also stole one public address system worth N112,000, one HP laptop worth N85,000 and N10,000 cash.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mrs S. A. Adesina, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned to Audust 11. (NAN)
