Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have killed two suspected bandits and arrested many others in Hayin-Nasara community, off the Abuja-Kaduna highway in Tafa LGA of Niger State.
The operation, which took place on Friday, was reportedly carried out at a herders’ hamlet on the outskirts of the community.
A source told City & Crime yesterday that sacks suspected to be containing cash and rifles inside a hut were recovered during the operation.
A resident of Hayin-Nasara said, “We immediately went to the area where we saw one of the corpses of the two suspects, while the other one, identified as a ‘pointer’, was taken away by the operatives.’’

A vigilante in the area said the arrested suspects had been living in the area for years, while some arrived recently to take cover from the ongoing onslaught against them in the nearby bushes.
He said, “A team of soldiers from Abuja later came to set many of their huts ablaze.”
The spokesman of the Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, said the command was yet to be briefed about the development.
