2 arrested using students’ sanitary pads for rituals

Two cooks working at the Federal Government College in Akure, the Ondo State capital, are now in police net for allegedly using the sanitary pads used by female students of the college for rituals.
The suspects were caught by some students of the college after the suspects took used sanitary pads of some female students of the college from a location close to the female hostel.
Daily Trust sources said the suspects now being detained at the Ondo State police command headquarters in Akure were found close to the dustbins around the female hostels in the college where they had gone to pick the used sanitary pads and some other items used for sanitary purposes by female students who live in the school.
Some students of the college who were said to have caught two of the cooks reported the matter to their teachers who later reported it to the college principal, Mrs Florence Ejikeme.
The suspects were immediately suspended by the school authorities while investigation was launched into the allegation.
A student of the college said the suspects had confessed to the crime during interrogation by the Police.
The state   police command spokesman, Mr. Femi Joseph who confirmed the incident, said the two suspects were already in police custody. The PPRO who refused to mention the names of the suspects, stated that the command had not been able to establish whether or not the suspects used the sanitary pads for ritual purposes as alleged.
