Two persons, Oluwakemi and Mustaphar Farouk, have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command over their alleged involvement in child labour.
It was learnt that Oluwakemi brought a10-year-old girl from Plateau State to Lagos State and handed her over to Farouk as a maid for an undisclosed amount.
Lagos State Police Command’s spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects, said they were members of a child trafficking syndicate who specialised in selling children for labour.
Hundeyin explained that their recent victim was seen with some things for hawking (hawking) very late on Wednesday night in the Costain area and that, “A female policewoman who was on traffic duty noticed the confused state of the girl.

“On inquiry, the girl told the police woman that she was lost and couldn’t find her way to her madam’s house. She said she was brought to Lagos from her village, Vom, in Plateau State, by a lady who she identified as Kemi (Oluwakemi).”
Hundeyin further said that detectives tracked the suspects through discrete investigation.
