2 arrested over abducted Lagos woman

The police in Lagos have arrested two unidentified persons over their alleged involvement in the abduction of a 22-year-old woman, who disappeared while on transit via a BRT bus in Lagos State.

The police said the suspects and some others, who are currently at large, were allegedly seen in company of the abducted woman in the bus.

Police investigation has revealed that the victim, Ayanwole Oluwabamise, allegedly boarded a BRT bus from Chevron bus stop, Lekki around 7pm and was said to be heading to Oshodi on February 26, 2022.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu, who confirmed the arrest, said since then, the victim had not been seen.

Adekunle said as soon as the report got to the police, the commissioner of police, Abiodun Alabi, ordered investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the woman. 

He said to ensure speedy and diligent investigation, the police boss directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba to take over the case. 

“In the course of the investigation, two suspects have been arrested. 

“While assuring that police detectives will continue to work assiduously to find the missing lady and bring her abductors to justice, the command wishes to appeal to anyone with useful information that could help in our investigation to promptly give it to us for further necessary actions.

“The suspect, who hails from Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State, is about five feet plus tall, dark in complexion and speaks Yoruba and English languages well,’’ the police said.
