2 arrested for stealing bags of zobo in Jigawa

Operatives of the Nigeria security and civil defense corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, have arrested two suspected thieves in the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud. said the suspects were Musa Sani and Ayuba Idris all of Makara Huta Quarters of Hadejia LGA. 

He said the two were arrested on Sunday 21st of January, 2024 at about 0830hrs in Gawuna Quarters, Hadejia while in possession of 10 bags of dried hibiscus (zobo) suspected to be stolen.

Mahmud said investigation revealed that the suspects conspired and broke into the shop of one Alhaji Yusuf Idris of Gawuna Quarters, Hadejia LGA at about 0330hrs on Sunday located at Gawuna Qtrs, where they forcefully broke the door open and gained access into the shop.

He said they stole10 bags of dried hibiscus, which they used two stolen wheelbarrows to convey to a building belonging to one of the suspects. 

According to him, the 10 bags of hibiscus valued at N362,250 were subsequently recovered together with the two stolen wheelbarrows, an iron bar which they used in breaking the door and a machete.
