The police in Kano State have arrested one Sadiq Isma’il (18) of Rijiyar Lemu Quarters for stealing 16 plasma TVs, valued at N1.2 million from a shop in Sharada Quarters of Kano metropolis.
The arrest followed a complaint from the owner of the shop to the police which led to the arrest of Isma’il and the receiver of the TVs, Abdulmalik Mukhtar (20), and recovery of 11 units of the 16 TVs.

Spokesman of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said, “Sustained intelligence-led follow-up resulted in the arrest of the principal suspect, Sadiq Isma’il, at a hotel in Nasarawa LGA, Kano State, where he lodged. On preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed that he single-handedly went to the shop, broke the window and made away with the 16 plasma TVs.
“He further confessed that he sold all the 16 plasma TVs for N350,000 and used part of the money to lodge in a hotel with his girlfriend.
Discreet investigation led to the arrest of the receiver, Abdullahi Muktar, at the same hotel with the principal suspect. This led to the recovery of 11 of the stolen plasma TVs from Kano and Bauchi states.”
