Leader of the Kwankwasiyya Political movement and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has disclosed that membership of the movement has grown to over 2.5m in Kano alone.
He said with the strength of the group in the state, it is crystal-clear that he would determine the direction of votes in the 2019 election.
Kwankwaso who met party delegates in Lagos as part of his ongoing tour of states ahead of the PDP presidential primaries said membership of Kwankwasiyya group has continued to grow nationwide.
The Senator also recalled that he had the largest number of votes during the Senatorial election in Kano having scored over 760,000 votes in the Kano Central polls in 2015.
He said Lagos and Kano have a lot of similarities especially in terms of population, assuring that the votes of both states would determine who wins the next election. He however expressed confidence that PDP would win landslide in both states.
Addressing the party delegates, Kwankwaso explained that he had instructed hundreds of thousands of the Kwankwasiyya movement in Lagos to register with the PDP and advised the party leadership to integrate them into its fold.
According to him, “our members are disciplined, hard-working and very committed to our ideology, most of our members are in the grassroots”.
The presidential hopeful said if given the presidential ticket of the PDP and elected as the President, he would ensure Lagos state was supported to realize its full potentials.
“One special thing about me is that I started from the grassroots. I understand the workings of government. I believe if the ticket is given to me, I have already won election”, he said.
He said 2019 would be a turning point for the PDP and Nigeria, saying it would be a year to “change the change”. He decried the state of affairs of the country, saying the situation on ground is not what the people bargained for.
Kwankwaso said it is very unfortunate that the APC is currently making the mistake PDP made in 2015.
