A total of 2,139 households in Niger State, affected by flood in 2020, have received relief materials from the federal government.
The items, which include food, non-food items and building materials, are meant to assist those households deeply hit by the flood in six local government areas of the state.
Speaking during the commencement of distribution of the items in Minna, the Head of National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) Minna operation office, Wagami Lydia who represented the NEMA DG, said the materials were approved by President Muhammadu Buhari to be distributed to affected persons across the country.
She said Emergency Operation Centres (EOC) were established by NEMA to elicit information from the field where the disasters made various magnitude of the impacts.
The items distributed include; 2,139 bags of rice, 2,139 bags of maize, 2,139 bags of beans and 214 kegs of 20-litre vegetable oil. Others are 4,278 pieces of mattresses, 1800 bags of cement, 1,800 bundles of roofing sheets, 1,200 pieces of ceiling board and 600 bags of zinc nail among others.
Some of the beneficiaries commended the federal government for identifying with them during their plight.
