195 female students affected in Yobe varsity fire – VC

No fewer than 195 female students of the Yobe State University, Damaturu, lost their property in a recent fire in the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the university, Professor Mala Muhammad Daura, who disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the fire incident that razed down a female hostel, said out of the 195 students, five of them who were asthmatic and inhaled the smoke, were rushed to the hospital.

He explained that a cooking gas cylinder explosion might have caused the fire, adding that all the students were safely evacuated from the building.
