A Kaduna Magistrate Court has remanded 189 members of the Is­lamic Movement of Nigeria in prison. They were arrested during the sect’s clash with the Nigeria Army in Zaria.
The court granted bail to four minors who are members of the sect in the sum of N100,000 each and two reliable sureties who will deposit valid means of identification.
The prosecutor, Bayero Dari, had prayed the court to remand the sect members in prison custody pending investigations  into the arms and ammunition recovered from them which he said have been sent to Lagos for expert analyses and tests.
He explained that the delay of the expert report was due to the large number of weapons recovered from the suspects which he said would be used as evidence when the trial begins.
“Our investigations are almost completed. Women and young offenders have already been granted administrative bail. The Police handed them over to credible sureties who will at any time provide them in court. We are for justice and we will not object granting bail to young offenders,” he said.
Lead Defence Counsel, Useni Ibrahim who applied for bail for young offenders among those arrested, said they will meet the bail conditions and urged the court to begin trial of the suspects.
In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Auwal Musa Aliyu granted bail to the minors but said all other suspects be remanded in prison custody till 29 march,2016 for further mentioning..
