No fewer than 180 students from secondary and tertiary institutions across 34 states of Nigeria have benefited from a LAPO Microfinance Bank (MFB) N50 million scholarship.
The Managing Director (MD) of LAPO, Cynthia Ikponmwosa, who disclosed this during the scholarship and skills acquisition award ceremony, said the institution had spent over N400m on scholarship since inception in 2007 on 3,951 students.
Represented by Oluremi Akande, Director of Marketing, LAPO MFB, Cynthia said, “Today we have 180 new beneficiaries that will be awarded scholarships this year. The beneficiaries cut across 34 states where LAPO operates in Nigeria.”
While noting that the scholarship programme was part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) aimed at helping parents actualise the educational dream for their wards, she said, “So far, the noble efforts of the LAPO scholarship scheme has actualised the dreams of 3,951 students since its inception in 2007.”

Earlier, Christiana Okojie, chairperson of the LAPO scholarship scheme, advised the beneficiaries to put in their best in their academic activities.
