Eighteen rooms and eight toilets were confirmed to have been razed in an inferno that gutted the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Kano on Wednesday evening.
The Public Relations Officer Kano state Fire Service, Alhaji Saidu Muhammed who confirmed the incident said investigations are still ongoing to ascertain the cause of the incident and property lost.
He said the Service received a distressed call from one Ibrahim Bashir Yahaya at 6:37pm about the fire outbreak at a students’ hostel in the school.
He said on receiving the information a team of fire fighters were mobilised to the scene and were able to contain the fire.
He said before the fire fighters could put out the fire, it has already consumed 18 rooms and eight toilets in the students dormitory.
He said there was no human casualty in the incident.
