The Commissioner, Kaduna State Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology, Mrs Patience Fakai, has disclosed that only 17,000 businesses are so far registered with the state government.
She then explained that as part of steps to register as many businesses as possible into its database, the ministry took a business premises enumeration campaign to the streets as well as a stakeholders’ engagement in the state.
Daily Trust reports that staff of the ministry led by the commissioner participated in the road walk along Yakubu Gowon Road to the central market handing over flyers and explaining to small business owners why it was necessary to register their businesses.
Speaking after the road walk, the commissioner said, “Though only 17, 000 business are registered with us, I believe with the road walk and the various sensitisation campaigns we have been doing, many more will come on board to build a database as well as have a proper directory of businesses in the state.”
Also, the Director, Business Services of Osoft Integrated Resources Limited, Mr Samuel Anyafulu, said they were in partnership with the ministry to build a centralised database for the benefit of businesses in Kaduna State.
