One hundred and seventy people aged 70 and above across the 17 LGAs of Abia State have benefited from the launching of the free home health services for the elderly.
The health care services for the elderly is designed to ‘switch hospitals’ to the comfort of the homes of the elderly free of charge, complete with medical personnel, drugs, machines, and ambulance .
Speaking at the launch of the health care service, the Minister of Health Professor Isaac Adewole who was represented by the Medical Director Federal Medical Center Umuahia, Dr Chukwu Abali, said the elderly population was largely faced with many challenges including health, adding that such senior citizens were at a stage of life when resources were few.
Also Speaking, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu said his vision was to provide quality health services for children between zero to 59 weeks as well as their mothers and the elderly.
