The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kogi State has arrested 149 suspects linked with 2,699kg of hard drugs seized between January and June, 2022, in the state.
The state’s NDLEA Commander, Mr Abdulkadir Abdullahi Fakai, disclosed this in Lokoja on Tuesday to mark the beginning of a week-long activities to celebrate the 2022 United Nations Day Against Drug Abuse and Trafficking.

Fakai said that this year’s theme: “Addressing Drug Challenges in Health and Humanitarian Crises”, was carefully chosen to mark the 2022 anti-drug day.
The commander, who noted that the suspects were males and females, stressed that they were arrested with assorted drugs which included codeine, methamphetamine, Exol-5, diazepam, tramadol, cannabis sativa and pentazocine.
Fakai further said the agency recorded the highest seizure of 948.956kg in April, 307.815kg May and 59.973kg in June.
He added that the command had charged and secured the conviction of 29 of the suspects, while other cases were still at a Federal High Court, Lokoja.
