At least 1,520 farmers and agricultural produce marketers will benefit from the rehabilitation of feeder roads and tertiary irrigation canals in two locations of Jigawa State. 

The projects, worth over N1.7billion include Kwanar Kakau to Barandau, about 2.534 km and from Dutse and Naino Small Irrigation Project covering about 10 hectares of land in Babura Local Government Area.

Furthermore, about 130 beneficiaries will benefit from water pumps and accessories, where it was expected that each farmer would benefit with two bags of NPK, one bag of urea, 5kg of seed and 1 to 2 litres of agro chemicals as a package.

Governor Badaru Abubakar said this through his deputy, Alhaji Umar Namadi while launching the first phase of COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus Fertiliser Distribution under the FADAMA J- CARES agricultural programme in Dutse, the state capital.  

Governor Badaru appealed to the beneficiaries for a full utilisation of facilities provided by the programme, and assured that more community would subsequently benefit from the programme. 

Earlier in his speech, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources in Jigawa State, Awwalu D. Sankara, said the programme was aimed to boost the demand for agricultural produce for farmers and enhance food supplies.  

During the occasion, 2,370 bags of fertiliser comprising of 1,580 bags of NPK, and 790 bags of UREA, in addition to 1,580 litres of agro chemicals, were distributed to 790 benefiting farmers.
