No fewer than 1,500 poor and vulnerable yesterday benefitted from a free medical outreach programme conducted by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) at Lawanti village of Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State and environs.
The medical outreach was sponsored through the 109 Combat Reconnaissance Group (CRG), Gombe as part of the activities to commemorate the 58 years anniversary of the NAF.
Speaking at the flagging off yesterday, Commander of the new 109 CRG, Air Commander Michael Ekwueme, said during the medical outreach, people with illnesses like malaria, diabetes, ulcer, high blood pressure, and dental and eye problems were attended to by the medical personnel.
He added that over 500 children were also dewormed during the exercise.
Represented by Flight Lieutenant Joseph Udoh, he said the healthcare intervention programme was initiated by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Isiaka Amao, to provide free medical services to the less privileged members of their host communities.
