The Bauchi State Pilgrims Welfare Board has asked 150 intending pilgrims to return home after being unable to secure visas for them.

Speaking with reporters in Bauchi, the Executive Secretary of the board, Abdurrahman. Ibrahim Idris said the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) had pledged to add 150 extra slots to the initial 1,363 Hajj seats allocated to the state to make it 1,513 Hajj seats.

He said intending pilgrims for the initial 1,363 seats had been airlifted but they were unable to get Visa for the remaining 150 Hajj seats pledged by NAHCON.

He advised the intending pilgrims to take it as an act of God, saying the problem was not peculiar to the state. The information officer of the board, Muhammad Sani Yunusa, said the board had distributed N5,000 to each of the intending pilgrims not airlifted to reduce the burden of returning home

He also commended the intending pilgrims for their patience and perseverance.
