15 killed in fresh communal clash in Ebonyi

No fewer than 15 persons were said to have been killed on Saturday in a renewed communal clash between two clans of Izzi and Ikwo in Ebonyi State.

The victims were said to have been ambushed along the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Road while returning from the matriculation ceremony of the Ebonyi State University.

They were said to have been burnt to death.

A source, who said  more than 15 persons were killed, explained that the victims were returning in an 18-seater bus before they ran into a roadblock.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the state police command, Loveth Odah, confirmed the incident.

She said the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Awosola Awotinde, had visited the area.

The clash was said to be over a land tussle.
