The corruption trial of former Jigawa State governor, Senator Ibrahim Saminu Turaki, has resumed at the Federal High Court, Dutse, Jigawa capital, after 14 years.
Turaki appeared in court on December 7, to face the 32-count charge of N 36 billion.

In 2007, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested the former governor and arraigned him before Justice Binta Murtala Nyako of the Federal Capital Territory High Court.
He was subsequently remanded at Kuje maximum prison until he was granted bail in the sum of N100 million with two federal legislators, Bawa Bwari and Bashir Adamu, standing as his sureties.
In 2011, the case was transferred to the Federal High Court, Dutse, after the accused challenged the jurisdiction of the FCT Division of the court.
He was subsequently re-arraigned on the same 32-count charge at the Federal High Court, Dutse.
Justice Hassan Dikko was reassigned to take over the case, which was previously handled by Justice S. Yahuza before the latter’s retirement early December.

However, following this development, the defendant, the former governor pleaded not guilty to the 32-count charges.
Justice Dikko consequently fixed February 24 & 25, 2022 for the continuation of the trial of the case.
