A 14-year-old girl (name withheld) has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her father to death.
The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the incident, which happened in the Cable Point area of the Asaba, the state capital.
It was learnt that a domestic misunderstanding ensued between father and daughter on Thursday evening which made the man to chastise her for an offence she committed.
The unsuspecting father had gone to sleep, thinking the issue had been laid to rest but the damsel, nursing a vengeful spirit, waited patiently for her dad to fall asleep.
It was gathered that the girl, who was pretended to be calm after the chastisement, seeing the father had fallen asleep descended on the hapless man, stabbing him severally to death with a knife.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed the incident, while expressing regret over the crime rate in the state, especially among youths.
According to Aniamaka, “I don’t have information if the deceased is the girl’s father. But all we know for now is that he was related to her. Imagine a small girl stabbing her relative to death.”
“The other day, it was the killing of a Delta State University student. Where are we heading to?’’, the police spokesman queried rhetorically, while appealing to parents to keep keen watch on their children, especially at the adolescent age.
