A 14-year-old SS2 female student, Hikmah Abdulkareem, of Al-Hikmah International School Secondary School, Ilọrin, Kwara State, has been awarded a scholarship to cover her education to any level and automatic employment after graduation and a cash price of N500,000 after she defeated 105 other contestants to emerge the overall winner in the TVC Women Network Secondary School Female Championship Debate held on Saturday to mark the 2023 International Day of the Girl Child.
City & Crime reports that Hikmah had earlier been featured in the television station’s all-female flagship programme, “Your View”, after her emergence with a N1m reward and a tablet among other gifts.
At a reception in her honour attended by her parents, the founder of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Alhaji AbdulRaheem Oladimeji, announced the scholarship and employment.
Oladimeji, who also gave Hikma’s principal, Mr Raliat Brimmoh, and form mistress, Mrs Sekinah Jatto Oyewole, the sum of N100,000 each, called on corporate bodies and institutions to always celebrate and support achievers who were making the nation proud in whatever they did.

The Vice Chancellor VC) of Al-Hikmah University, Prof Noah Yusuf, who described Hikmah as a “golden girl”.
Hikmah, who could not control her joy and emotion, appreciated the founder and everybody that had given her the platform to shine.
She called on her colleagues and students generally, especially the girl child, to always believe in themselves and continue to strive, adding that with focus the sky would be the starting point.
