Suspected killers of the traditional ruler of Koro, a community in Ekiti LGA of Kwara State were on Thursday arraigned at the State High Court for kidnapping and culpable homicide.
The suspects, Godwin Jacob, Olowofela Oyebanji, Adefolalu Ayodele, Tewasie Francis, Babatunde Samuel, Godwin Joseph, Issa Mumeen, Miracle Solomon, Abraham Kehinde, Muhammed Bello, Muhammed Muhammed, Ahmadu Umaru, Muhammed Dankai and Saliu Murtala were all arraigned before Justice Umar Zikir.
According to the charges, the suspects were accused of causing the death of Onikoro of Koro, Oba Aremu Olusegun Cole and for kidnapping his wife, Olori Iyabo Aremu.
The charges further revealed that they demanded N100 million ransom for the release of the kidnapped victims but N12 million was later paid.

The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Barrister Muhammed Akande, informed the court that the offences are capital in nature which requires them to have legal representatives.
He said the office of the public defender will volunteer to render legal service to any of them who needs it.
The trial judge further ordered the remand of the suspects in the correctional facility and granted bail to two of them who were initially on bail.
The case was adjourned to July 30, for proper arraignment.
