13,993 senior federal workers take promotion, confirmation exams

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has urged the nation’s civil and public servants to be abreast of information communication technology (ICT) and digitalisation so as to boost their professionalism and contribution to national development.

She said this on Wednesday in Abuja while undergoing inspection of the 2024 OHCSF Senior combined confirmation and promotion (COMPRO) examination exercise for senior para-military officers and others.

She said that would be part of the ongoing reforms under the digitalization pillar of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP 25).

She noted that it was also important as it was being conducted via a computer-based test (CBT) unlike the past when it was paper-based.

“Not less than 13,993 candidates will be participating in the exam nationwide. And no fewer than 2,573 workers will be taking the test at various CBT Centres in Abuja,” Walson-Jack said.

Speaking after monitoring the exercise at the Ansar-ud-Deen International School, Maitama, Abuja, before proceeding to other centres in the FCT, the HCSF commended the seamless manner the CBT exam was being conducted in partnership with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

“I have gone round the centre and I can say that it is a full house. The candidates are here in their large numbers, and the exam itself is going on well. Let me appreciate the efforts of JAMB, our dependable partner, which is conducting the test.

“This first batch of COMPRO Exam for our senior civil and public servants has been fruitful. Therefore, we look forward to a successful second round,” she said.

She also said her office has lined up several training workshops on ICT for workers ahead of future CBT promotion and confirmation exams.
