The Katsina State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 1,344 suspected drug dealers and traffickers over the past year.
The NDLEA commander in Katsina State, Hassan Abubakar, disclosed this during a press briefing on Thursday.
He also said the NDLEA seized a total of 1,319.258 kg of various drugs, including Cannabis Sativa, psychotropic substances, and other controlled drugs during this period.
The briefing marked the beginning of a series of events commemorating the United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Abubakar highlighted that the command had sensitized over 56,000 participants, counselled 136 clients, secured 107 convictions, and initiated 120 new legal cases.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Police Command has arrested five notorious suspected kidnappers in Kubau Local Government Area of the state and neighbouring Tafa LGA of Niger State.
ASP Mansir Hassan, the command’s spokesperson, in a statement yesterday, said the suspects were arrested following intelligence received by the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) of Maigana and Tafa.
He said during the investigation, incriminating evidence such as pictures and videos of banditry activities was found on their phones.
He added that the case would be transferred to the anti-kidnapping unit for further action after completing the preliminary investigation.
