Soldiers have rescued 13 abducted victims after a gun battle with bandits in Chigbolu community in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State.
City & Crime earlier reported that bandits abducted 13 people on their farms in Chigbolu community two weeks ago.
A community leader, who disclosed the rescue through telephone to our reporter on Sunday, said that the soldiers overpowered the bandits which forced them to abandon their captives and flee.
A security source, who was part of the operation but preferred anonymity, said, “A thorough sweep of the area led to the rescue of 13 victims, comprising six males and seven females, on Thursday.”
He said one A-K-47 rifle, four magazines, a locally fabricated rifle and N192,220, five solar panels and five mobile phones were recovered in the bandits’ camp.
It was further gathered that two bandits’ informants were arrested by the troops in SCC village market last Thursday.
The spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Hassan Mansur, could not be reached for comment on the incidents.
