13 trafficking victims rescued by NAPTIP, NSCDC, DSS

Officials of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and others have rescued 13 Libya-bound victims of trafficking.

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Department of State Services (DSS) are among the law enforcement team that rescued the victims, comprising 11 boys and three girls, including the arrest of one high profile trafficking suspect, Nurudeen Sani who is said to be based in Kano.

According to officials from NAPTIP, the victims were rescued at Basarawa community along the Kano-Katsina road, while the suspect was arrested through a tip-off from concerned stakeholders in Kano.

The Director-General of NAPTIP, Senator Bala Mohammed expressed concern and worry over the recent activities of traffickers and warned parents to desist from being pressured or deceived to give their children out.

“I sincerely thank our sister law enforcement agencies for their support and collaboration which led to the arrest of the suspect,” he stated.
