At least 13 people lost their lives on Tuesday in a motor accident said to have occurred in Ogodumu village along Otukpo-Adoka road in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
Daily Trust gathered that the deceased include a mother and three children who were travelling in a commercial bus heading to Abuja.
It was learnt that some people, however, survived the accident, which happened in the morning.
Witnesses said that the Abuja bound bus, which loaded passengers from Otukpo town was in motion when an articulated truck coming in the opposite direction lost control and rammed into it at Ogodumu.
A witness said that the deceased died immediately because of the impact of the crash.
Contacted, the State Commander of Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), Mohammed Suleiman confirmed the incident to our correspondent by telephone.
He said the accident, a head-on collision involving a truck and a wagon, occurred at about 10:45 am, Tuesday and confirmed 12 people died while six others were injured and taken to the hospital.
