13 arrested over robbery, kidnapping in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command has paraded 13 suspected criminals in connection with different crimes, bothering on rape, armed robbery and kidnapping.

Parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters in Ado-Ekiti, on behalf of the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ogundare Dare, the command’s Public Relations Officer, PRO, DSP Sunday Abutu, said some of the suspects were caught with Indian hemp.

Abutu said on October 29, a gang of armed hoodlums, numbering five, forcefully stormed, shot sporadically into the air and attacked the house of one Kehinde Kazeem located at Oke- Aku, in Itapaji Ekiti, in an attempt to kidnap him.

He said, “The armed hoodlums also invaded his shop and took a cash sum of N100,000 and other valuables. Their attempts to kidnap him proved abortive as police Rapid Response Squad(RRS) moved in and arrested two of the suspects, Usman Suleiman and Mohammed Sumonu.

Abutu, also said that one Salihu Rasaq was arrested by the Gender Desk Unit of the command for allegedly having carnal knowledge of two 17-year old girls in Agbado Ekiti. 

“It was revealed that the victims, in their quest for spiritual favour, visited the suspect, who claimed to be an Alfa that has certain spiritual power. 

“The suspect gave them certain soaps and claimed that the victims were going to be receiving favour after bathing with the soaps.”

‘’Meanwhile, the suspect forcefully had carnal knowledge of them at different times as part of the conditions for the soap to work effectively.”
