A shopper got a little more than yoghurt when he reached into a fridge and found a chilled snake at the Komatipoort Spar in Mpumalanga in South Africa during the weekend. According to News24, the snake, said to be a python, was close to four metres (12 feet) in length, Spar manager Martie Esnouf told News24. “It got stuck in the fridge. It could have come through the roof or the drains, we have a lot of bush behind the shops, and there are snakes there,” she said. A local snake catcher (ABOVE) was called in to handle the situation and assured the staff not to worry because the chilled snake’s organs had shut down and was in a state of hibernation. He said it could take up to 48 hours or more for it to be back to normal and would be released into the nearby Kruger National Park.
