126 drug traffickers bag jail in Plateau, Kano, Ondo, others – NDLEA

He said another convict, Ibrahim Haladu got 15 years imprisonment for trafficking 6.7kg of cannabis in Bauchi State, and Haruna Aliya, also in Bauchi

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has sent to jail 126 people across 14 states in Nigeria between January and February 2021.

Spokesman of the agency, Femi Babafemi, said on Thursday in Abuja that of the convicts, Musa Ibrahim who was prosecuted for trafficking 40kg of cannabis sativa in Akure, Ondo State was sentenced to 16 years, eight months by a Federal High Court in the state capital.

He said another convict, Ibrahim Haladu got 15 years imprisonment for trafficking 6.7kg of cannabis in Bauchi State, and Haruna Aliya, also in Bauchi was sentenced to five years jail for trafficking 609kg of cannabis.

Justice Hassan Dikko of the Federal High Court, Bauchi, convicted both Aliya and Haladu.

“In Jos, Plateau State, Eke Chibuke, was sentenced to five years imprisonment for trafficking Tramadol and Diazepam, while Idan Kenneth charged with unlawful possession of 220 grammes of cannabis, 4.3 grammes of Tramadol, 3.3 grammes of Rophynol, was sentenced to two years on each count,” Babafemi said.

He said the conviction records across some other states in February showed that 18 persons were jailed in Kano, five each in Imo and Abia and four in Gombe respectively.
