A total of 120 professionals and 300 amateur golfers are set to participate in the 2021 Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong’s Cup in Jos.
Governor Lalong, an avid golfer, will lead others from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to the one week long tournament which will be held at the Lamingo Golf Club.
Addressing the press yesterday to herald the tournament, the captain of Lamingo Golf Club, Hon. Joseph Bukar, said the tournament will tee-off today, December 7 to Sunday December 12.
He also said apart from trophies to be awarded to winners in different categories there will be a star prize of a brand new Toyota Camry car.
“The Governor’s Cup has been an annual event since the inception of this government. This administration is about six years now and it is ongoing ever since this Exco was inaugurated.
“It is a major event in the golfing calendar in the country. As far as I am concerned, it is one event that stands out not only in Nigeria but in the West African sub-region.
“Every year, professional golfers in Nigeria converge on this course to compete and exhibit their skills where the entire professionals from the country come here to compete, show their skills and ensure that they perfect their skills,” said Bukar.
