A 12-year-old author, Munachi Mbonu, a student of Atlantic Hall School, Lagos, has received accolades on the publication of her third book titled, ‘Father’s Will’.
‘Fathers Will’ is fantasy interwoven with science fiction, in which the main character, a super cop, demonstrates innate powers to solve earth-shattering cases. Munachi is the author of two previous books titled ‘Concealed’ and ‘Chidubem’.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was at the book launch, commended the teenage author and urged her not to relent in her efforts.
“Munachi is no doubt on a path to greatness. She has defined her path and I must say without a doubt that the sky is her limit,” the governor said.
The chairman of Atlantic Hall Educational Trust Council, Mrs Taiwo Taiwo, said the author embodied the best of the school’s mission to raise critical thinkers and best talents for the 21st century.
“We are especially proud that Munachi imbibed our culture of strong academics, great extracurricular skills and a fine embrace of innate talent. Munachi is hugely talented,” she added.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr Abba Kyari, who inspired the latest publication, ‘Father’s Will’, graced the event and was full of praise for the author.
“If we start encouraging young ones like this, the brain drain will become a thing of the past. Crime will reduce drastically as the young ones become more purposeful and aim for their personal growth,” Kyari noted.
School principal Andrew Jedras reaffirmed the school’s determination to consolidate on their track record of excellence.
“We have aligned our strategic thinking, planning and direction to ensure that the education that students receive at Atlantic Hall reflects our transformative approach, one that is more than knowledge acquisition, but which at its core, is committed to creating a crop of top-flight young people fit for a global 21st century”, said Jedras.
In a related development, Atlantic Hall School is set to mark its 30th anniversary with the launch of a N2 billion fundraising.
A statement said the school was founded in 1989 on the vision of five women namely, Chief Mrs Taiwo Taiwo, Mrs Eniola Fadayomi, Lady Gbeminiyi Smith, Dr Kehinde O. Dina and Mrs Olabisi Towry Coker as well many trustees.
The institution has over the years produced all-round achievers at the highest level of society both at home and abroad.
The statement said it is against this background that Atlantic Hall School’s alumni will also embark on a five-year transformational agenda titled ‘Charting a New Path’, driven by the notion “what got us here won’t get us there.”
Activities marking the event were the unveiling of the transformational agenda, showcasing of the ambassadors of the decade, an anniversary gala finale and presentation of honourary awards to distinguished members of the alumni.
The school targets N300 million Atlantic Hall Endowment Fund, N200 million Solar Power Initiative and a N1.065 billion multi-purpose hall for the school.
