12-year-old boy electrocuted in Jos

A 12-year-old boy, Sani Muhammad, of Febuna area of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, has been electrocuted.

The incident occurred on Monday around 4 pm after the first rainfall experienced in Jos this year.

According to the family of the casualty, the incident occurred when he (Sani) was sent to a nearby greengrocer to buy vegetables when a high tension wire fell on him and electrocuted him.

Ali Muhammad, an elder brother of the deceased, who confirmed the incident to City & Crime, described the incident as unfortunate, explaining that the victim had attended Islamiya that day.

The father of the deceased, Muhammad Abubakar, said he was shocked when he heard of the incident, but that he had left everything in the hands of Allah who was the giver and taker of life.

The father, however, called on the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED) to ensure regular checks of their hardware, especially poles and high tension wires, to avoid further occurrence.
