12 killed as militia attack Takum

Twelve people were reportedly killed as suspected  armed militia attacked Jukun community in Takum town, Taraba State, yesterday.

The militia, suspected to have crossed into the Jukun community from Benue State, invaded parts of Takum and shot many people.

A source in Takum,Yakubu John, said the militia came with sophisticated weapons and attacked the community.

He said more than 12 people were killed.

He said the attackers were later repelled and many of them killed.

The spokesman of the Taraba State Command, David Misal, confirmed the attack.

He said the attackers were repelled by a combined team of soldiers and police. He said the command was still compiling the casualty figure.

He said however the situation had been brought under control.
