Men in a tricycle on Sunday abducted an 11-year-old boy on the premises of a Catholic church in Awka, Anambra State.
According to a source, the syndicate comprised an elderly man and a middle-aged man came to the church pretending they were looking for the catechist.

The source said the boy, who earlier attended Mass, decided to help them locate the catechist and that in the process they kidnapped him.
Narrating the incident, one Ogazi Ejesieme disclosed the news of the kidnap to journalists in Awka, saying the victim was his nephew and was taken from the Annunciation Catholic Church, Awka.
Ejesieme, however, said the good news was that the boy was abandoned at Amawbia, a neighbouring community to Awka.
He said, “They got to the Catholic church at Ugwu Tank, Amawbia, and dumped him there and left.”
The state’s police spokesman, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, said he had no information about the kidnapping incident, and advised the family to officially lodge their compliant at the nearest police station.
