11-nervy mins for Pillars, Katsina United in Abuja

Relegation-threatened former Nigerian champions, Kano Pillars and neighbours, Katsina United will face-off in a nervy contest in 11 minutes when they conclude the abandoned NPFL week 23 match this morning in Abuja.

After the explosive match in Kano was aborted in the 79th minute by irate fans at the Sani Abacha stadium, the LMC banished Pillars to Abuja and later ordered that the match be concluded beginning from where it was stopped after the pitch invasion.

It will also be recalled that the keenly contested match ended abruptly with the scoreline still 0-0 so both teams have 11 minutes plus added time within which to win the maximum points.

The captain of Katsina United, Usman Bara’u is confident of victory for the ‘Chanji boys’.

He said Pillars are desperate to pick the points but Katsina United won’t fold their hands and watch them have their way.

“Katsina United are in Abuja for the three points. It is going to be an intriguing contest in 11 minutes. For me it is like 100 minutes.

“The time may appear small but we all know what can happen when a team loses concentration in a few minutes.

“For us, we are going into the match with a game plan. I am confident Katsina United will come out victorious,” said Bara’u.

Both sides will miss the services of their Technical Advisers, Salisu Yusuf (Pillars) and Usman Abdallah (Katsina United) who are on international duty with the Super Eagles.
