The South South women of the APC have said that the party’s zoning formula for the incoming 10th National Assembly is in the interest of unity, peace and economic progress of the nation.
The APC National Working Committee (NWC) had picked Godswill Akpabio (South South) as its preferred candidate for the senate presidency; Barau Jibrin (North West) for deputy senate presidency; Tajudeen Abbas for speakership and Ben Kalu for deputy speakership of the House of Representatives.
In a statement yesterday, the Leader of the South South APC Women Professionals and former candidate for Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Nsit Atai Constituency, Hon Blessing Ossom, said that Akpabio’s senate presidency would achieve the 35 per cent Affirmative Order long sought for.
She said, “Taking a look at the pedigree of Senator Akpabio in corporate governance, it is our considered opinion that Nigeria and Nigerians will benefit earnestly from his vast wealth of experience.
