A Kano magistrates’ court has ordered the remand of a 107-year-old woman, Furera Abubakar, and 17-year-old Isah Hassan for plucking out the eye of a 12-year-old boy, Mustapha Yunus.
The prosecution counsel, Mr Lamido Soron-Dinki, told the court on Wednesday that the defendants committed the offence on March 19, at Rimin Hamza Quarters in Tarauni LGA.

Furera and Isah, both residents of Dantsinke Quarters, Kano, are standing trial on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and attempt to commit homicide.
Mr Soron-Dinki told the court that on the said date at about 9pm, the defendants conspired, deceived and lured Mustapha to a stream and plucked out his right eye with a knife.
The magistrate, Mr Muhammad Jibril, ordered the remand of the defendants in a correctional centre and adjourned the case to April 11.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) further reports that Isah, the first defendant, was ordered to bring a human eye to be used in preparing “appear and disappear” charm by the second defendant, Furera. (NAN)
