100 youths trained on solar power installation in Niger

One hundred youths have been trained and empowered on solar power installation in Bida Local Government Area of Niger State.

The training, according to the sponsor, is aimed at complementing government’s effort at creating employment for youth as well as saving them from idleness.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony and presentation of award in Bida, the sponsor of the empowerment programme and Coordinator of Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN), Mallam Usman I. Makanta, said the motive behind it was to reduce the level of poverty and idleness among the youths and securing the society.

“We didn’t budget for it but we will continue to improve on it as the training continues. For this graduation, 100 youths have been trained on solar  power installation and we are unfolding the second segment of the training which is for skills acquisition in computer, tailoring and many others.

“Our overall target is 1000 youths in various skills to reduce the level of poverty and idleness among our youths, thereby securing our society and ensuring that everybody has something to do and put food on their tables,” he said.

He commended the youths for attending the training, adding that if they are positive-minded, the society will be good for it.

Chairman of the occasion, Hon Husseini Aliyu Lemu, commended the sponsor for taking the bold step.
