A Zamfara-based NGO, “Ta’awanul Khairiyya-Voice of Women and Child Initiative,” has sensitised 100 women groups in the state on Gender Based Violence (GBV) issues and women participation in leadership.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the sensitisation, organised in collaboration with Gender Awareness Trust (GAT), took place at Kaura Namoda town, Kaura Namoda LGA of Zamfara State.
Speaking at the event on Monday, the State Coordinator of the NGO, Hajiya Shafa’atu Labbo, said the programme aimed at increasing women awareness on dangers associated with GBV.
“This is also to encourage women participation in politics and leadership affairs considering the fact that women are left behind in various opportunities.
