More than a hundred people were arrested during the environmental sanitation exercise on Saturday in Ekiti State for violating the sanitation law.
The violators mostly traders at the Okesa market in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, refused to participate in the October sanitation exercise by displaying their goods during the exercise.
However, they were made to face a magistrate court and ask to pay the required fine to government’s purse as punishment for not complying with the state sanitation law.
Reacting to the development, government affirmed its commitment to enforcing sanitation laws and warned that violators would face legal consequences.
