A Kano-based NGO, Dr Dahiru Muhammad Hashim Foundation, has distributed uniforms and learning materials to 100 primary school pupils in Kano State through a gesture tagged: “Back to School Initiative”.
The beneficiaries were chosen from across wards in Dala LGA and got school bags, uniforms and writing materials.
Speaking at the launch of the initiative, the founder, Dr Dahiru Muhammad Hashim, explained that looking at the present high level of unemployment and illiteracy in the society, education must be given the utmost support with priority to address the situation.
He said, “It is not my doing alone, there are others who contributed to this course. I was also sponsored to study, therefore, we must support others to obtain education also.

“We have seen what education has done to many to attain great heights in so many life endeavours. It has made many to become so attractive in their communities. It is an endless journey that cannot be underestimated.
“The way I was supported to study and become what I am today, it’s a duty for me to also to extend a similar gesture to my younger ones. We hope to see them also grow up, become capable and support others too.”
Also speaking, the Member representing Kano Municipal in the House of Assembly, Sarki Aliyu Daneji, commend the foundation, describing the gesture as something worth emulating by all well-to-do individuals.
