One hundred students of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University (UDUS) are to benefit from an entrepreneurship training for students in Sokoto state.
The training was organized by the Sokoto State Students Association, UDUS branch in collaboration with the 21st Century Entrepreneurs Team.
Speaking at the flag off of the three-day training the President of the Association, Mus’ab Bodinga said 63 students had so far paid for the training, adding that not all the students were from the state.
He said each participant paid N2000 only, adding that the training was meant to change their mind-sets on relying on government for job after graduation.
“So, we want to catch them young, disabuse their minds on relying on government for the job that is not forthcoming because the labour market had already been saturated,” he said.
He called on the state government to organize the same training for students of secondary schools in the state.
In his remarks, a former Commissioner for Health, Dr. Balarabe Kakale said the training would provide the participants with entrepreneurship skills with which they could establish their businesses.
Kakale, who is the PDP candidate for Shuni-Tureta Federal Constituency in the forthcoming lections, advised the students to also be serious in their studies.
Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer of 21st Century, Umar Idris explained that the students would be trained on PowerPoint presentation, branding and packaging, businesses plan and funding as
well as digital marketing among others.
