The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adewole Adebayo, has said if 10 per cent of the money stolen from the public tilt is channeled to education, Nigeria will have the best universities.
Adebayo stated this during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.
- #EndSARS: Why indicted officers have not been prosecuted – Human rights commission
- Tinubu rejects CBN’s method of tackling inflation
He said education is not oil, saying it is a right of Nigerians.
Adebayo said, “I have information for the government right now. The information is that your people in government are stealing Nigerian money. They should stop it. That is the information I have for the government.
“Now with regard to education; education is a right in this country and anyone is talking that we should subsidize whatever. Education is not petrol, education is a right; we have to give it.
“We have money for it. How much did they (political leaders) pay when they were going to school. How much did president Buhari pay to the military school? Did he pay any amount? If the amount of money being stolen from crude oil and solid minerals, through taxation, through waiver and inflation contracts, if 10 per cent of that is brought to education, we will have the best universities that will be available to every child.”
