10 days after, suspect of Games Village homicide at large

Residents of Games Village Estate in Abuja are still in shock over the murder of a 37-year-old radiologist, Dr Obialo Ibe, working with Zenith Medical Lab and Kidney Centre, with his friend and housemate, Ezekiel Edoja, at his residence.

The incident reportedly happened last week Monday but sources said the prime suspect is still at large.

Fear-gripped residents of the estate told our reporter that they want justice for their murdered neighbours.

A resident of the Games Village estate, who insisted on anonymity, said investigation into the incident has been taken over by the estate’s security and the police.

“The reality is that people are really scared. I just came out the next day and one of my neighbours told me that the doctor was killed. That’s the only thing I know.

“But because it’s obviously a homicide case and it scared all the residents. They’re investigating the matter and don’t want to give us much information. All they’re saying is that it’s the person who lives with him (that committed the murder).

“What we don’t know is the status of the person who’s with him. He’s on the run and that’s the person the police are looking for at the moment,” she added.

Some accounts say Ezekiel Edoja was the doctor’s cohabitant and a cousin, and they’re both murdered.

A neighbour told Daily Trust that there’s no sign of first entry or burglary into the premises. “It looks like whoever came to butcher them had eaten and drunk with them.

“Till today, I really don’t know actually how it happened. Some say the body was dismembered and some say no, they’re just murdered,’’ the neighbour said.

The Chief Security Officer at the estate confirmed that the victims were murdered last week Monday.

“I am not fit to say anything because I wasn’t on duty (that day) so I’m not supposed to say anything. But two people were murdered,’’ he added.

The bodies of the victims were said to have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi.

Efforts to get comments from the police were however unsuccessful as the FCT Police Command Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, did not answer calls and did not reply to a text message sent to her.
