Ten people have been charged before a magistrates’ court in Ilorin, Kwara State, for allegedly stealing 3,091 bags of nails worth over N39 million.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the management of KAM Wire Industries, Asa-Dam Road, Ilorin, inspected bags of nails kept in its showroom and discovered that 3,091 bags valued at over N39m were stolen.
The FIR reads in part: “Investigation led to the arrest of one of them, who confessed to have conspired with other security guards in the industry to fraudulently convert the proceeds from the sales of the nails to their own use.
“All efforts made by the management to retrieve the said amount from them proved abortive.”

The prosecutor, Barrister Yakubu, prayed the court to remand the suspects.
But the defence counsel, Barrister Toyin Onaolapo, urged the court to grant them bail.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Ndakene, granted the suspects bail and adjourned the case to March 12.
